    hanging inside the house suggestions?

Hey guys, I was thinking about doing some indoor hanging-----do I need a self supported stand, or is there a way to hang using the structure of the house without doing any damage?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Lots us here use stands indoors. Others have put appropiate sized eyebolts into their wall studs and go that route. I would warn that you had better make darn sure that your walls will handle the stress that a hammock can put on them.

I have a stand and in the basement I hang from from the joists. I just drilled holes in the joists instead of using hardware and I hang parallel with the joists as opposed to perpendicular.

I use indoor stands personally. If your hammock is shorter (10 foot), the Vario stand is very nice. Making a TurtleLady or TurtleDog is also an option.

My vario stands in use for my kids, which hang indoors permanently:

Turtle dog stand is probably the cheapest option I would consider... I like mine but I have yet to use it indoors but have spent enough time in it outside and in camps to trust it indoors with the addition of rubber feet...

I just run hook bolts to the studs in any room I may want to hang. When I'm done I just spackle and paint and you'd never know I was there.

I use the eyebolts. THey work good but make sure you use the hang calculator to you can place them at the appropriate height. My first attempt resulted in me needing to vault myself into my rig. Perfect now that I used the calculator.

    +1 on vario stand.

Amazon ship them for 'free' with prime membership. It does take up a long space. Measure before you buy.

If you don't mind a couple screw holes in the walls that can easily be mudded over and painted. Here is my setup

I've been using eye screws into the studs in my living room the past 3 years with no problems. And as said above, I'll just patch it when the time comes. Enjoy, as it's nice to string it up when the urge hits.
