Hopefully someone will bring a fid or two. I've got an idea for a ridgeline that should make the tarp pop right out of the pack---at least it works with the mocked up clothesline I'm using.
Gmcps---do you need that underquilt and pack?
If you want to toss it in; I have a new pack on order, and will be making UQ's out of two poncho liners coming on order. (But you never know...) Right now they are on schedule to be delivered today or tomorrow. Looks like rain is likely in the forecast; so we will be sorting out rain gear and pack liners to keep things dry, as well as tightening up our walmart tarp deployments. I thought I ordered some line from Redden Marine with the hammockforums discount, but I forgot to calculate shipping, so I think the order didn't go through... I will bring some wire along, to make a fid or whoopie sling puller.
The wife has given me permission to bring the Buick Enclave, so I will have some extra room if we want to post a vehicle at Parking lot #2 with gear water, food, etc. I expect our arrival will be around 4 or 5 PM on Friday...hopefully sooner, depending on how early we start that morning to get to college station...4:00AM? sheesh.
Last night we sorted out cooking kits; we will be bringing all three methods, gas canister stove, ( I got one of those Chinese outfits) alcohol stove, and bush buddy wood-burning stove. Planning meals now...and a trial run overnighter in the valley near the house, per Caveman's very practical suggestion...

What are the insect prospects for this area? Bringing bugnets, just in case.

I doubt skeeters will be a problem this time of year---but I've been wrong before and lived through the experience.
But if the forecast of rain holds through the next 10 days, I'm going to have to ditch the cheapo Sears Poncho and go with a real poncho (apologies to Frank Zappa) which is tripple the weight and I might chance leaving the Buginator home.
I'll be trying out my new Northwoods Hammock with integrated bug net. It's my first hammock with integrated net so I'm pretty dang excited.
I'll see if I can fit one of my cheap guitars on the pack somehow. That could be fun.
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong
