I saw these comments today and it only rubs in the fact I can not go. Why do other kids at my sons school have to have birthdays. I mean really. None of the parents ever talk gear
Sure Cave,
We did a freeze out camping trip the weekend of Jan 25-26, with one son and myself hanging, and the other bushwacking on the ground. got down to 22 degrees...still kept our toes, but close. You haven't seen my amazon and sportsman's guide order lists...I suppose you are constantly tweaking gear. I hang indoors full time, so I have a set up to mess with constantly.
My biggest issue will be if there is lots of mud and rain, and we are unable to keep our sleeping items dry. (What's rain? here in the panhandle...)
+1 on multiple plannings, conversations, lists, and gear tweaks that's what makes the trip more fun, all the planning, and failing to plan, and the pain for not planning, and forgetting the pan to cook the eggs in...etc. And I am sure this conversation is making Spaceweaseal's head spin.
Take it easy,

Semper Veritas.
Wow. They really DO have trees in West Texas.
It looks like we might get a little rain all weekend but the temps look pretty good.
I will bring a couple of tarps so we can set up a litte area to get together if it's raining...

Is everyone set on gear?
