    Greetings from Kentucky!

Fairly seasoned camper here, but about to take my first plunge into Hammocks. I’m a hiker and deep woods hunter, and after years of packing tents in and struggling to find suitable tent sites, the benefits of suspending sleeping have me intrigued.

I am a bit worried about putting together a system that will handle snow/sleet and nights into the low 20’s. Already had some bad experiences in a tent and from my early reading, hammocks can be challenging from an insulation standpoint.

I am hoping to get off on the right foot in terms of gear selection, etc and this forum looks to be a wealth of resources in that regard!!

Hello and welcome from south Louisiana!

This forum is an information super highway. My best suggestion to you would be to check out Shug's videos. You can find them on the "general hammock" forum.
It's never a trip, It's always an adventure!

Welcome from a fellow Kentuckian, hanger, and hunter.

With the proper insulation and a little practice on setting up you will have no problem tackling anything that Kentucky weather can throw at you.

Welcome to HF! Staying warm and toasty in a hammock during snow and sleet is very doable. Spend some time looking around here and you will find a wealth of information on how to stay warm and comfortable in hammock no matter the weather.
