Made some continuous loops (not sure for what yet) and moved to 30" for each short piece. 2" eyes and 5" eye bury with an 8.5" for the main bury. Left me room to prussik and backsplice. Haven't used them yet and time will tell if I prefer but it was a great tutorial and fun to follow. Thanks again.

Will be trying soon enough once I get my hands on some dynaglide.
If you add it up, 4" for the fixed eye with a 5" bury = 14"
    Add 7" for the constrictor, that's 21"
Now just need a tail for the prusik and backsplice, so 30" would be perfect.

    Dynaglide,
    4" fixed eye with a 4" bury = 12"
5" constrictor bring it to 17"
Add a few inches for the tail, so about 2' of cord.

    That sounds about right

fallkniven - you most likely did and in my glee to put one together made one of the main DIY addiction mistakes - not plan and read everything thoroughly!!

I wasn't jammed but simply forced to stop and actually do the two things I should have done to start. Now its dynaglides time!

Ha, yeah, I wasn't thinking. It was early still. I had done this real quick when I saw someone asking for one. I figured I'd give it a try. After I saw your post, I realized I probably should have been more specific on that. Happy I was able to help.

First, awesome tutorial. Unfortunately, I'm mucking it up somewhere along the line. Using dynaglide the same exact way (picture for picture I might add I can't seem to get the UCR to stay. It just wouldn't constrict at all even with the prusik tied on the end of the short line. The first time I tested ::gently:: right on the hammock. Once I untangled myself from the ground, I tried another one just in case I made it wrong. Having enough wits this time , I stuck with a pull test to check #2. ...once I untangled myself from the ground again I read and reread everything.

    Double check me.....
whoopie hook on a 4" bury then the 5" bury on the short string followed by the prusik.
The longer piece just has the toggle eye on one end through the bury and backsplice.

    Right? Right??

Okay. Pics so that it happened. :-). Long day. That would have been the smart place to start had my mind been functioning in more than 1 cylinder.

First picture Here is the basic setup. The tail after the Prusik knot hasn't been trimmed down yet due to a sudden complete lack of faith in my ability. :-D

Second picture if a close up of the knot.

What is the splicing tool your using? Is it wire of some type?

It seems to be all looking right. Fallkniven will have the best idea. Silly question but are you milking the bury tight once you've hung the hammock and before you've gone into it?

Yep. I'm milking the bury tight. I'm tightening the knot itself to make sure that it is actually keeping the bury constricted. Everything short of holy water and a locking stitch.
