Here are a couple of pics of the shock cord. Not elegant but it seems to work great.

The tail will be trimmed off from the knot.

Fallkniven....great instructions. I'm just beginning to get obsessed with splicing. Made my first UCRs last night with the help of this post. Looking forward to trying them out.

I like the shock cord idea. A cord lock could work the same way too. I've tried a tauntline hitch which works well also.

I thought of something new this morning. I won't bore you with the details, but I realized that a reversed woopie sling functions the same as a ucr. By reversing it the full length can be used. Just lock it with a safety pin.

Hey Mods, would it be possible to get this thread stickied please? every time I search for a UCR thread it takes the "UCR" out of the search criteria, stating it is too general of a search term, thus making it a pain to find a UCR thread by just browsing the suspension threads until I find the thread again. I'm kind of wondering why a UCR thread hasn't been made a sticky before, all the other types of suspension seem to have a sticky.
