In the Single Ring Suspension discussion I proposed an alternative to the descender ring, calling it the Knotty Not. First was a simple Z-shaped version and then one with a closed eye at one end.

I hung on them every night for about a week at home. When I took the hammock down and examined the Knotty Knot, I discovered that the load at the end towards that hammock had bent the device.

In the image below is an unused device followed by two used ones which show the bending problem.


Bottom line...DO NOT USE A KNOTTY NOT AS A SUSPENSION DEVICE!
