    SF door guy lines.

I am waiting for my SF to arrive, and figured I'd get a jump/start and be ready for it by making my guy lines. Right now I have my ridgelines made using zing-it and Dutch Flyz. I have also made 4 guy lines from zing-it for the main guy lines. Now to figure out what to do with the doors. I can make the same type of guys that I have for the main guys, or I can make them from shock cord. I was thinking that if I made them from the shock cord, then I could just pull the doors open without having to undo my guylines.

Any suggestions? What do you do?

    Thanks.....RR

I use shock cord on the doors as well. This way if I trip on the line getting through the closed doors, I won't rip anything. I put a prusik on the shock cord with one of Dutch's quilt hangers, which clips nicely on the corner triangle pieces at the 4 corners.

Shock cord and 2 mitten hooks work nicely. You can clip the doors open when not needed. You can also close the doors up using the same. (Be sure to put the 2 mitten hooks on the opposite ends; that way each cord hooks on a different end of your tarp....and can also close a door, all using just 2 cords and the 2 hooks. Enjoy your new SFly!

I use shock cord on my doors. I find the shock cord handy for closing the doors and for securing them to each other on the same side to create a hex tarp. Its good to have a bit of give since I tend to brush by them when going under the tarp.

i personally like the static lines for the doors. if you put a mini-biner on the plastic triangle of the door and attach guyline to the biner, it's easy to clip/unclip the guyline from the door for entry/exit

I've been thinking about using shock cord on my doors as well. Did you go with it on your SF? If so, how's it working out for you?

Well here I thought I was original, I use shock cord with small plastic hooks on my tarp doors. Clip them together to make a hex tarp or sometimes I clip the door to the oposite side tarp corner so I don't have to take extra stakes. If I need more room or want to open it up a little I can carve a quick stake and pull the doors outward a little. One time I used a little extra shock cord and hooked the doors around the foot end tree.

I used "Shane's Method" for all of the guylines. A short piece of shock cord and then the zing it, with the line-locs. When I made the lines, I did make the ones for the doors a little shorter than the others. I also used a small NiteIze S-biner, size #1 to hook between the triangle on the tarp, and the shockcord. 1 one each end, and on opposite doors.

In this pic, you can see the doors open.

    Hope this helps.....RR

I don't have any clips on mine I just keep the guy lines on them so I can tie back the doors when I need to.

Here is quick clip of my guy out setup.
