Initial planning stage of hanging indoors!

Well, being that my dad is a carpenter, he can build a house from the ground, up. He can do plumbing, electrical, framing, trim, etc.

I picked his brain about hanging my hammock inside, one wall is a cement exterior wall, which he says is cinderblock.

The other wall is an interior with wooden 2x4 studs.

He wants me to span 3 or 4 studs with another block of wood, to support the load on that side, then on the cement side, use the same amount of support, but using Tapcon screws.

We shall see how this pans out.

In my first time sleeping in my hammock, here,
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=66173

I discovered not only could I sleep BETTER than in my own bed, I could sleep in positions I never thought possible.

So this is going to replace my bed for sure.

    ps.
This is going to be in a 10x10 room, so It's going to be a tight squeeze.
    According to this nifty thing,

I should be able to make it.

Congrats you'll never regret the move. The few times I've had to go to a bed over the last 18 months or so (4 exactly) have been pure misery.

If you want a little more room don't go strait across the room, you max is 14.14ft if you go corner to corner.

Thanks, yeah I was thinking about that....

But wouldn't it be neat to hang it right along side a window?

Hard to argue with the view there. However, I'm a night owl and do some of my best sleeping after the sun comes up, so being next to a window might be less than ideal.

It looks like you'll have about 6in on each end with a 9ft ridgeline. How are you planning on dialing in the comfort? I can't imagine you'll be able to have whoopies that short. Even with rings or buckles you'll have eaten up half that distance.

I was gonna use webbing with some sort of knots.

Then I have a Ridgeline made of Para cord already on it ready to rock and roll.

Para cord is not ideal... I've used it for a ridgeline in a pinch, but it will stretch.

I've got it situated on an adjustable knot. So it can stretch all it wants.

I haven't invested in the fancy ropes yet... Amsteel and dynaglide I hear a lot about.

So far, Para cord hasn't let me down, literally.

I'm wondering how it would work to use the calculator to figure out your tie off length at the ends and then use an amsteel adjustable ridgeline to dial in the rest.
