    Initial impressions

Got my package today. Thanks UPS guy! You rock!

Took advantage of a blow-out sale from REI. I sure got a LOT for my $70!
The "package deal" included the GT SBPro w/ Treeslings, Funky Forest tarp and lines, and stakes...delivered to my door.

I carefully inspected everything. I mean EVERYTHING. Couldn't find a flaw anywhere. Stitching on the SBPro and tarp was perfect, straight, clean, no loose ends, etc. This wasn't any second-hand, salvage, or "blem". Everything was nicely packaged with the new Grand Trunk logo sewn into each silnylon carry sack. Cool!

Used some SlapStraps on my trees then hung the SBPro. I'll probably go with this rig on this hammock b/c it's for the little woman. She immediately commented on how cool it was, how nice the fabric was, and I nearly pushed her down to get into it first! (Okay...not really...but man, I couldn't wait to try it out.)

I showed her how she could lay in it one way to take advantage of the mosquito netting then showed her how to simply flip it over and flop into it if she didn't need the mosquito netting.

Next, it was time to play with the tarp! Rigged it up in no time flat, stretched it TIGHT, then crawled under it and layed down in the hammock again. Love it!

Now the little woman can join me in the backyard and just relax the afternoons away.

so it went something like... "to fully appreciate it, You gotta lay in it for about an hour, like this"

    Alan,
Can you provide a direct link to that Funky Forest Tarp? I tried to locate it on the REI site with no luck. (maybe already sold out).

    Hey Alan,

Glad you like the Air Bivy Extreme! The outlet is being super generous in their pricing for this! It's been a nice little special make we did for them and will continue to offer it on our site www.thetravelhammock.com although not for the smoking deal they're offering. Would love to see some pictures of you and the lady using the ABES someday when you have a chance.

    Best,

Hey HCO, how do you get in that and how does it close. Also the description say the hammock is polyester taffeta and the spec says it is rip-stop nylon. Unless I reading it wrong. Maybe REI has it wrong on their site. Anyhow nice looking hammock.

And I would love to take some pictures, but here's the deal - I'm gonna have to stay out of the hammock long enough for her to get into it and for me to actually take the pictures!

Yeah, good luck! Once you open them to their own addiction you're obligated to get them their own set-up; at least that's what my girlfriend told me.

Whatever you do, DO NOT LET HER TRY YOUR DOWN QUILTS! You'll spend the rest of your days trying to find good hiding spots for them.

I'm lucky enough to have quite a few trees in my backyard, so after I hung 2 hammocks side-by-side for us to enjoy together...she had the AUDACITY to question my decision to take down the Kelty 12 tarp to enjoy a little sunshine!

She wants me to put it back up over both hammocks to create some shade.
    I think I've created a monster!
