workin on getting geared up, is this a go for sure???
What that means is something happened...
Yes it's still on. I am planning on being out there by noon on Saturday the 23rd. If we keep getting snow, I'll get the road plowed so we can all get in.
Jcavenagh was bringing ribs to eat, I will make up some chilli. If anyone else wants to bring a dish to pass, post it on here.
I'll probably just come to check out everyone's gear and enjoy the campfire. I don't think I have the requisite gear to winter camp, so I'll check out Rick's Picks prior and come out later.
That would be a cool thing to do before the campout. I have many people that want to see what kind of people would want to camp out in the winter. They all think we are crazy. There will be a few others standing around the fire, and having a good time!
Sounds like a nice to place to hang. I think I'll join in. I'm Lithuanian I'll bring some fire wood
Fancee Feest = preferred alcohol stove of "informed backpackers"
I'll bring some firewood as well.
In reading some other threads, I may have what I need to do a winter hang. I haven't got an underquilt, but from what I've read, I may be okay with a pad and a sleeping bag. I have to make a trip to REI in the next couple of weeks, so maybe I'll look into getting a sleeping bag liner.
I've hammock camped a few times last year, but I was with tent campers and hadn't had an opportunity to see others gear and how they equip themselves. I just use my ENO doublenest and tree straps I bought on Amazon. I hope to see how whoopie slings are being used by others.
I have plenty of fire wood. Close to a cord, and i'd worry about spreading the Emerald ash borer by moving wood around the state. Thanks everyone for the offer of fire wood, but we will be good.
Hi I can bring a extra liner that has never been used. Check craigslist for more info.

Thanks for the heating supplies Rookiehanger.
Alpha Charlie, thanks as well. I've already ordered one through REI and I'll be heading there to pick up something else as well. Maybe someone else can use it. Also looking forward to using other methods (hot water in Nalagene bottles, hand warmers) to generate warmth that I've read about in our forums.
I will set up a couple cots in the shed we have out there, with a couple heaters I have for ice fishing just in case anyone gets to cold the night of the campout and needs a warmer spot to sleep. The ten day forecast for the Friday night before is in the mid teens. That way if someone gets to uncomfortable we will have a bailout place for them to spend the night.
