Enlightened Equipment underquilt

Hi all,

I am considering switching to an underquilt. I have never had one before, and I would prefer to start with something of quality so that I have a good experience and don't have to replace it. I am 5'7", and I often curl up to sleep, so I figure a full length quilt is unnecessary. I found this, which seems pretty good, but I haven't found any reviews. I am hoping to be able to hang down to around -10°C, which I have not been able to do with pads. I appreciate any help!

Just a thought, I can curl up and stay completly warm in my 3/4 jarbridge. Maybe not down to -10 though. My point being that curling up shouldn't preclude a full length. If you are not worried about weight a full length would be nice though.

A 20 degree Phoenix from hammock gear is only 179.00. and being a 3/4 length UQ mine covers me from head to toe being 5'10'' and sleeping semi curled up

it's fairly early here, so my maths may be off a bit.. -10C is around 15F, no?
the Anti-Freeze with overstuff might manage that. or, a Flurry will go to less..

I have a tewa breeze, I am 5 foot 6. The breeze is a 3/4 uq and it covers me from my head to around my ankles. I use a small reflectix pad at my feet. So yea, you can absolutely get away with something smaller.

Thanks for the tips! Looking around, it seems like most of these quilts are in the range of 1 lb. how tightly do they pack?

I have a 20* revolt with it overstuffed. I hadn't had time to try it out in the woods.

I like my hammock gear 0 deg, if it got too warm as spring and fall temps are warmer i can just lower it a bit making it looser on my hammock. I will not sleep if i am cold so i won't sacrifice on warmth.

Well, the EE underquilt arrived today. Now I just have to keep forcing myself to work and stop thinking of going out to the woods

I'm hoping to get a good test in either this weekend or next. I will try to post some pictures once I get it set up (I'm still in my office

)

So, after I got home this evening, I had to take the new Enlightened Equipment RevoltX 10º underquilt for a try. It was 4C out this evening, so not too cold. The quilt was easy to set up, with a channel suspension and hooks on the ends, and with the elastic stretched out, it held nicely against my back. This is my first underquilt, but I didn't have any trouble with it (thanks Shug!). I only hung for about half an hour before I had to pack it up, but I was absolutely warm on my backside

I also weighed it, and it is 531 g/18.7 oz.
