Tarp Whoopie length ??

Decided to build some Tarp whoopies out of Zpacks 1.4 oz Z-Line Slick Dyneema Cord.

How long would you make them ??

50' weighs .65 oz.

I intend to use them like this without a ridgeline.

I'm not a fan of whoopie slings on tarps. I find they are difficult to adjust under tension, difficult to fine tune and they use twice as much line as is necessary. I think there are other methods you may find easier and more efficient. Just my opinion.
If you do want to use them, I'd make them 10 to 12 feet to accomodate big trees or trees that are well spaced.

Agree with Bubba. Be a bit careless in tightening your whooopie sling, and your only recourse in releasing it might be cutting it to get free. Think of the situation when you hang your tarp and hammock from trees strong enough to support your, but which bend under the load.

Much used and for good reason is Prusik, Kleimheist or other hitch in which one cord, usually smaller, is wrapped around a larger one. With several wraps and proper orientation, this hitch stays in place under tension until you put the two cords at right angles to one another, at the wrap, and slide the wrap to loosen or tighten.

Not only are whoopies difficult to release under tension, but the cord you mention can not be spliced. Great cord, I use it on my tarp, but it doesn't have a hollow core for splicing. I use the 1.25mm for the tieouts, and the 1.5mm for the ridgeline, because it's fits dutch's tarp flyz well.

Edit: didn't notice the "slick". Never bought the slick line before.

I just watched the video. I didn't realize that was how you meant it. It would work, adjust the sling, wrap it around the tree and clip the tarp to it. Seems like it would be a pain to tighten, no?

The cord I received is hollow but it is really freekin tiny so making one wont be easy.

Maybe you are thinking about the dacron sheathed lime green cord.

I dont know really. I just thought it looked interesting.

There are certainly simpler ways to do it and this stuff is so small I dont even know if I could make a whoopie out of it.

I guess you could have the two whoopies for the initial tree wrap and adjustment then have a quick adjuster on one end or something like that but that seems redundant.
