    Howdy, from Texas

Bought my first Hammock (eagles nest Double) while eating a Choco taco at Boy Scout camp with my scouts this summer. In July I carried it to an OA camp out with the idea that I was going to hang. After getting a bit wet and mosquito bit in the butt I came away determined to figure this thing out. So I found the Shug videos on the youtube. Since that time, I have only camped on a cot once and that was on the beach in Galveston. Lowest temp this year here camping was 28f for me.
So, a little bit about me.

43 years old. Married to the same woman for 20 years. My one and only child is 12 years old. We live behind the PINE CURTAIN in Texas. I used to duck hunt with a passion. I work as a DeltaV DCS Administrator for the leader in Activated Carbon Production... YES; we make the stuff that goes in the water filter; NO, I cannot get any for you. I'm the guy that programs the plant that makes the stuff. I've been a Scout Master for the last four years. I made webelo as a kid and dropped out. One of the FUMES got me. I like to kayak, hike, camp. Once I figured the hammock thing out I'm almost set on that is the only way I will camp. I truly enjoy looking up at the stars at night and you just cannot do that inside a tent. Another trait that has come from the hammock is that I have become a knot junkie. I found this forum while looking for whoopee slings.

Thanks! It's always nice to find fellow Scouters. BTW I am a member of both Scout religions. Wood Badge and OA. If you ever bring your troop this way I can help with Caddo Lake, camping/tour.

Welcome from south Texas... One of my biggest regrets was not being able to finish all the way to eagle... Got as far as life and then had to move and couldn't do it...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...
