Ok so I thought the top seam might have possibly leaked a little, but when you said the hammock split I'm thinking why did the fool wear his crampons in the hammock? I don't think it is so bad to say the only place the gear has problems is in someones drug induced worst nightmare, been on that stuff for a back injury and it can get very freaky.

Regarding bear spray for polar bears, never would have thought they'd like their food spicy. But I guess after only so much raw blubbery seal it just might be that having something with a little "kick" in it would be a welcome change.

You guys may be laughing, but this very thing happened to me. The only thing that was different was that when I landed in the mud and rolled over, my ex wife was lying there beside me!

    Dream

After reading about so many strange dreams on the trail, I figured from the first it HAD to be a dream.

    +1

When I first posted my concerns I was waiting for my SF... Now I have it. I like this thread even less now than when I initially posted.

I would move the Disclaimer to the top for you guys...

I would also start it off with "Those that don't read through a Post before Judging, Please read the Following Disclaimer In its entirety"

But the Edit Post Button is gone. Guess I just can't make everyone Happy.

This dream of yours started off very similar to a ten day outing in BWCA and Quetico.

It was my first bigger trip with my new SF and WBBB. The day was sunny and beautiful and we had gone 12 miles with five portages (2 of them over 1/2 miles each with all of our gear and canoe) after driving 9 hours through the night to get there. We were pretty tired and found a great island site four lakes and two rivers in. It's a good thing we pulled in when we did.

Out of nowhere, even listening to the weather radio, a strong storm cell developed close by(as they do very quickly in the upper midwest) and we saw it coming. We battened down the hatches on the hammocks, stashed our gear and tied down the lightweight canoe. The weather station never picked up on it until the update and it was already too late.
In haste, we found two good sturdy trees each and hung about 20 feet apart. Our guy lines were pulled out and might have been five feet from each other. That's how close we were.

It raged outside that afternoon into the night. The storm lasted hours and gusts were to 60mph according to the weather radio. Constant lightning and rain in heavy sheets of fury.I remember using my headlamp to look under the hammock, the ground beneath me was solid running water. During that storm, I yelled over to my buddy to see how he was doing. I got no reply. The next morning, he said he was yelling to me a few times. We couldn't hear each other even being that close. My buddy and I have seen some weather in 26 years of wilderness tripping together. That was one of the worst.

I too, always wondered about that ridgeline and how it would fare during some bad rain. Needless to say, I stayed as dry as a popcorn fart through the entire event. That tarp had me sold on another MJ which I then ordered upon my return from that trip.

When I got my Superfly I laid under it while the wife sprayed the garden hose of it. I expected to get wet. I just could not fathom why I would not need to seam seal the ridge.

Never leaked, honestly did not leak on the pull outs either.

    Good stuff.
