I put on a fresh pair of wool socks just before going to sleep, and a pair of down booties.
With beauty all around you, may you walk.

I have the same concerns, at the house I always have a blanket folded over my feet, even if the heat of summer...

I use wool socks that get put on right as I'm climbing in and get taken off right after I water the tree in the morning... I wrap my jacket around the end, invert the sleeves so they don't drag the ground and get wet or muddy... And I also have some hot hands brand feet warmers, they are like an insole for your shoe with the hot hands stuff in it, haven't used them yet but I was warm down to 18 so far...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

I suffer from cold feet as well and have found that using a Vapor Barrier works great. I wear a thin pair of polypro socks then the barrier, and THICK loose wool socks over. I think that by eliminating the evaporative cooling my feet stay toasty. And my wool socks do not take on any moisture from me...has totally eliminated the early morning wake up from cold feet that used to haunt me!

I think the VBL is a great idea under what ever form of insulation you choose to use...wool, fleece, down.
Recently spent a -4*C night testing a full body VB (walmart sauna suit) I wore my polypro base layer under the suit. At -4 I needed to vent my sleeping bag. Had a HG 20* UQ and a 20* synth mummy bag only covering my lower half for a good part of the night!

If your feet are cold before you get in your hammock you'll have a hard time warming them up without external heat source.

Sort out you foot wear when hanging out in camp. VBL works we'll for me as does pack boots. Keep them warm and your feet will have a much better chance of staying warm.

I use a set of Acorn Fleece socks. Kind of bulky for my licking, but warm and were cheaper than down ones...to which I will upgrade when the money is in.

Try a chemical hand warmer sandwiched in between your legs on your Femoral arteries, just below your groin.
Guaranteed warmth to your toes. It also warms the rest of you up too.

    A little of everything

I use thin silk black socks, and plastic bags over them. I throw on my Sierra Designs Down Booties & I'm good to go. The Booties together weight 3.7ozs.

Down booties from Arrowhead equipment. After I set up my hammock I unpack them and leave them on top of my topquilt to expand...very nice product...I'd like to get the ones that come up the leg more eventually.

So your licking them, is this before you put them on? Does the extra moisture from your tongue help, or is it the warmth from you breath? And how does the fleece taste, while your lickig them?

Sorry the smart a** in me just took over, and I couldn't resist......RR
