    Cannot get Whoopies to release

We made some whoopie slings out of 1/8" Amsteel and set up the hammock and adjusted it. Got in the hammock and everything was great. We tried to take it down and could not get this thing to release.

    Help.

Think about it like a Chinese finger trap; you need to push before you pull. Grab the tail (assuming you are trying to shorten it) with one hand and then pinch the spot where the tail comes out of the bury (you almost need to pinch the tail just before it goes in and then slide your fingers up to that point) and push up away from the tail as you pull.

Worst case scenario I'd imagine you can pinch both ends of the bury (again pinching where the other line comes out of the bury) and work them together to open it up like a Chinese finger trap... But I've never needed to do that. It should release extremely easily if you're doing it right.

Being your in Texas I doubt you had this problem but mine got wet and froze up once which caused them to stick so I had to thaw them out. Other than that should just be as OldRagFreeze said.

+1 on this - or possible frost issues as also mentioned.

Lastly, make sure you have as little weight on them as possible. Even the weight of the hammock with quilts and other items in it can add enough tension to make it more difficult.

It all about where you hold it to release the constrictor. I'll let Shug demonstrate...

+1 on the weight issue. I always take the gathered end of the hammock, under my arm, take a half step towards the tree. that removes all pressure/tension from the suspension. Then grasp the whoopie bundle closest to the tree and pull that tail out (it isn't a tail, it goes up to your toggle). I release both sides before I take the tree straps loose. That way on the next set up, you won't be fighting it to get it released enough when the trees are farther apart then the prior hang.

We will give it a go this evening. We made these to make our hammock set up easier and less bulky.

I have not had a problem with amsteel not releasing but Dynaglide seems to stick together and not release. It has taken several hangs and some weathering to where they now release a little easier now.
