    Marpat 1.1 SL-My first hammock

So I'm going to make my first hammock this weekend. It's going to be an 11 foot marpat 1.1 single layer ripstop. Also I just recently got a thread injector and I've been practicing. I plan on sewing end channels and larksheading my whoopies through them. I'm sure I'll have more questions but the first is: Should I hem under the selvage on the sides or should I use a soldering iron to cut it off? Attached are some pics of my new thread injector and the fabric. Thanks!

Sounds like you're set to go. Good luck with your project.

The wine will make the job go by easier! If your speaking of the selvage (sp?) Side I tend to simply hem that part in. I used to cut it off though.

Just hem it up... you won't notice it...

11' is a good length, too...

Mine is exactly like that! I made three at the time. Ex boyfriend had purchased all materials, so he got the other two. Love it, looks GREAT in the woods of NC. When it's just the hammock, it is invisible.

    Nice looking machine and fabric!!
Can't wait to see the finished product.
I'm thinking of using the same pattern in a bit heavier fabric.
