how true, i have been hammock camping for over 12 years and continue to be amazed at the knowlege and support of this community.
in my planning for my 2013 thru hike of the AT , i joined another online forum, but am afraid to ask questions or give advise for fear of being ridiculed or targeted by the antagonistic members over there

You don't know what you don't know...

Ask all the question you would like to, you never know when your question is the same as someone else's question who doesn't want to ask... Heck I have found answers to questions I didn't know I had

As one who has asked more then his fair share of dumb or already well answered questions... not only are people helpfull but never belittle you for asking. Cheers to great people.

This is absolutely true. The more you think you know, the more you don't know, right?

I agree completely. I've been a member of numerous outdoor forums and HF is one of the best.
There is a lot of experience, sharing, & ingenuity here.
I like to go solo - off trail - immerse myself in the area - explore - eat really well - and make it back home.
