    First Hang in the Adirondacks

It's taken me a LONG time to finally get to this point, but I finally know the glorious feeling of passing out in my hammock after a long day on the trail.

The last time I was in the woods was probably 12 years ago, so this was quite a learning experience. I'm also a type 1 diabetic, so controlling everything that comes along with that was a real eye opener.

I was lucky enough to have an experienced friend who not only kept an eye on me the entire time, but lent me some gear to make the trip possible.

    The Trip

Saturday: Parking Lot -> Camp, Setup
Sunday: Mt. Marcy -> Pass Out
Monday: Back to car -> Drive Home

I encountered rain the first night and about 40* on the second night, but made it through dry and warm.

    The Gear

    Yukon Outfitters Single Hammock
    Whoopies and Dutch Clips
Kelty Noah's 12 on a Simple Single (w/beaners) ridge line
    Thermarest Pad (borrowed)
    0* Sleeping Bag (borrowed)

I'm not planning to head out anywhere this winter, so I'm going to use that time to spend some money and maybe start some DIY projects.

    Pic1 - Camp
Pic2 - Turnaround point on Marcy. (My body wasn't up for the last 400ft)

Thanks for sharing the report. I haven't read too many reports on the Adirondacks, but from those couple of pics, it looks beautiful; I might have to add that to the bucket list too.

Congrats! Sounds like you managed things carefully - bodes well for future trips. You did a substantial trek in a short time frame. Love that area. Your picture captures the high peaks perfectly.

Up here watching the leaves turn now. The Adirondacks are definitely worth a visit for anything other than high altitude experiences. Woods, water and rocks in abundance. ;-)

Looked like a nice trip. Thanks for the report!
    YMMV
