It may be a silly question (I do apologise but I'm curious to know and you guys are the best to ask), but why is the 30 degree hang angle so important? Is it to do with the sag on the hammock or not stressing the suspension too much or some other paranormal reason that I cant even fathom?
i'll see if I can find the chart, but someone much smarter than I did the math showing the stress and tension put on the tree and your suspension. At 30 degrees you are putting the least amount of stress on the system and still able to get a good flat lay.

Thanks for the quick answer, it all makes sense now.
I'll be a bit more thoughtful when hanging in future as it appears that a wrong angle puts loads of stress on the tree and suspension and as a heavier guy (around 220 lbs) that could result in waking up on the floor.
Plus, hanging at 30 degree angle just feels better.

It so happens for me, at least, the 30* provides a sag fact9or that is the most comfortable. So physics and comfort all play a part.
