    Stuff size...

I'm interested in getting a new tarp. Weight isn't really an issue for me, but pack size is. Do any users/owners have any feedback on the stuff size of the superfly and the mamajamba tarps?

Keep in mind that a lot of things will compress farther down then what their stuff sack size is...

Understood. I'm just looking for a general idea. Like how much more bulk is the superfly versus the mamajamba. I'm assuming that the mamajamba stuffs into roughly the size of a 1 quart nalgene water bottle.

I hope someone comes on and answers your question... It has been a frustration of mine that this forum does not have a place where pictures of the popular items are located so that a newbie or a curious person can compare easily...

Agreed. That's what I've been searching for... pics. I've searched for pics of tarps stuffed, but only get pitched tarps. Nice, but only half the story.

BTW, how well does that Pro Fly protect from rain?

Not very well... It weighs more than the superfly... Superfly is 19oz and the profly with half the width and no doors weighs in at 22oz... That's its biggest hit is width, it is only like 5.5/6 feet wide which doesn't leave much for side to side protection... Usually when I lay in the hammock I can see under the tarp because the side are so short... To get it down where I can't see out the tarp has to be on my hammock ridgeline which doesn't leave much head room... If I had it to do over I would have gotten a maccat delux or a tadpole as a first same price more coverage and half the weight... Now I'm penny pinching for a superfly with a pole mod, and a weight weenie micro and buginator it will cut down on my weight and increase my comfort dramatically...

Thanks Brute. It looked a little short on the sides. That's very helpful input. I was thinking I'd just pick one up just because they're available in-store at REI.

I would say if you actually back pack with it or plan on getting in rain go with something from the cottage vendors... The tadpole looks like an awesome little tarp, 12oz I think its closer to 8' wide, long enough for a real hammock...

The profly is a heavy "decent weather" tarp at best... Oh and the cords that come on the profly suck... The core comes out of the jacket, I am not the only one to report this, there is a thread somewhere about it... So if you did go that route you would still have to replace all the cords anyways... Versus getting the tadpole and setting it up right the first time...
