Last year at our Winter Camporee for the Boy Scouts. Used a second sleeping bag and windshield reflector for bottom insulation.

This weekend is our Camporee at Phillipo Scout Reservation near Cannon Falls, MN. Suppoed to have a low Friday night of -7. Using Insultex UQ and pads with DIY TQ and 0* bag. Wish me luck!

At least I do have a winter tarp I made. Keep the snow off me unlike the diamond tarp I used last year... (set up is visible over out SM's left shoulder in the background)

ummm, down vest, under armor cold weather underwear, poly long underwear, arcteryx sidewinder shell, REI Taku Pants, fur hat, fleece pants, fleece sweatshirt, fleece gloves, balaclava, warm socks, warmer socks, 15 degree down sleeping bag.

This year I brought the ENO DN out to the winter hang and borrowed a hammock gear UQ. I have used the ENO with no tarp or insulation aside from my sleeping bag as low as 17 degrees and it beats the ol' HH for winter camping with easy in and out. I got a new sewing machine for x-mas so it's kind of a race to see whether or not i will figure out how to make my own quilt before saving enough money to buy one. Nonetheless, I am getting married in November and need to find out if I can register with hammockgear

Last weekend was unseasonably warm. It was last years MLK weekend which was wicked cold.

I just saw that Saranac Lake was in the MINUS 30's the last couple days.

Wow some cold temps posted here. Think it will be awhile before I get my setup dialed in good enough to hit these super low temps.

Set my new record last night at the Jersey Winter Hang. Overnight temperature 8 degrees, it was a balmy 28 with high humidity inside my winter sock. Even with the sock vented there was a lot of frost inside the sock outside the sock and inside my tarp.

It'll be around 10f with a wind chill getting down to just below 0f. Cold enough for me tonight

Going for the record high now

It was fun and painful all in one.
    Well said.

I now live in Tucson Arizona and I might try to go for the record high at some point, though that's not easy in the desert with a hammock. The trees are mostly at 5000+ ft of altitude where it is a lot cooler. The real heat happens at low altitudes, so I'll have to make the attempt along a river bed where a few trees are present. I think my record high so far is around 100F just before sundown when climbing into the hammock, though it cooled off at night. But its a dry heat...

My personal low in a hammock is -29*F - described in this thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=29240.

On a separate January camp out, I experienced 50-60 MPH winds. I was in a semi-protected area, but it still pulled out the stakes on one side of my tarp. Fun resetting those at about 2:30 am. The next day I did a much better job of securing and closing up my tarp. Of course, there was very little wind that night.

    So is my oven!

I do not like the hot. Give me subzero any day instead of 90+.
