It is possible to hang it from.the ridgeline... You will end up with a shorter ridgeline that may mess with your lay... But I usually lay with my ridgeline taught anyways... The darn thing is made of dyneema, why the heck can't it take a little load... But the lay may change, not usually enough to matter, the tarp flapping in the storm is usually more of an issue, you know where it goes slack when the breeze dies down and the pops taught again when the winds come back... Or a giant trash bag... That choice is trial and error, the boots usually get a bow tied in them and thrown over the ridgeline at the foot of the hammock with enough slack so they don't actually touch the hammock...

I either store mine under my hammock on a small tarp or hang it from its own tree strap with a rucksack cover on.

This! if it is going to be wet, I put the pack cover on, and it goes under the hammock, cover side up.

If dry or maybe a light rain, it gets the trash bag, and then I lean it against a tree, if heavy rain, then hooked on the hammock ridgeline. I hang it opposite of my lay. So if I decide to put feet left, then pack goes right, if I decide feet right then pack left. The only problem is when I want to switch in the middle of the night. Then I have to suffer, and lay the same all night.....RR

Even with my pack, which is no where near anything resembling ultralight... Your talking 20 lbs at most, depending on season...

Honestly, I have never weighed it. I have a Go-lite pinncale pack, and would have my cooking kit, first aid kit and maybe extra clothes, depending on the trip. My base weight is around 15-18 lbs.

I made a tree strap out of 1/2" mule tape. It's about 6' long and weighs less than an ounce. Wrap that around a tree, any old twig as a toggle, and hang my pack from the knot, not the toggle! Cover it with my pack cover. Hang the pack at the right height and it's really handy for packing up in the morning, too.

Yeah and your pack isn't muddy!!! I like it a lot for packing and unpacking, no bending over, bending over was the reason I got away from tents... All my gear is easy to find and is at chest/stomach level to get it all out...
