Here is the official short notice for the 3rd annual Roan High Knob Higher Colder hang. None of these plans are firm as the weather can alter them drastically.

The proposed itinerary is to meet at the Roan High Knob Shelter (elevation 6275) Friday, hike from RHK to Overmountain Shelter about 7.5 miles on Saturday, then hike over the AT to the Hampton Creek trailhead (about 2.5 miles) near the town of Roan Mountain on Sunday. From Hampton Creek, we'll have to shuttle back to get the vehicles at Carvers Gap.

If conditions warrant, we'll have to adapt the plan.

An informal list of attendees includes:

Wisenber
Roche
Spamburlgar (if he's healed)
Hangnout
Medicinceman
Poof

This is a winter backpacking trip and not a car camp. The previous two years have seen weather ranging from lows in the high teens to below zero with high winds and snow. Unlike the previous two years, we're going to try to make a backpack out of this instead of remaining at RHK. Anyone is welcome, but please have the requisite experience and equipment for the trip. If you have never been on a winter backpacking trip, this one probably isn't for you. We're all just looking for a fun as well as safe time. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Hopefully we can have a few stories to tell after this one is over in what is becoming a hanging tradition.
