Great collaboration! Let me ask you: Does the back of your head get cold from compressing the head of the sleeping bag? If you were to do it again, would put the slots in the same place?

I have a North Face Big Kazoo down sleeping bag I'd like to modify the same way. Thanks for the inspiration and advice!

Add a suspension to each end. It keeps the bag/pod from sliding down when you exit the hammock. A couple loops of grosgrain or webbing and some shock cord will do the trick.

My head so far hasn't gotten cold from compression. Yes, I would keep the slots in the same location (between head and shoulders). The head end slot is 15 inches wide, I might have made it a little wider 16-17 inches perhaps. My shoulders are ~19 inches wide. Too wide and it won't stay taunt when you get in. It worked out that there was a small baffle at that location on the bag rather than a large one so my slot wasn't disturbing crucial loft.

This has been done a few times before (as almost everything on the forum

) I have two bags with a hole at the foot end...don't tell the Mrs.

But the pod works, it does constrict the overall lay some, but it is a warm and viable solutions to staying warm in the 'mock.

The hammock is hung more taunt (no structural ridgeline) than you would if you were trying to trying to get a good diagonal flat lay. With the hammock fairly taunt the lay isn't too bad. I've gotten better lays than the picture shows. This was my first quick setup. The footend should be higher and the sleepingbag head end should be further up the hammock.

I bet you could adjust those holes to allow you to lay a little more diagonally
