When I worried about whether I could sleep on the ground under a top quilt, I spend a couple nights in a sleeping bag with the bag opened halfway to my feet, opening under me, sleeping on a pad.

I found this was comfortable and then knew that I could go the top quilt direction.

Lostbiker (a member here) has started a website where he sells uq, and starting in another week or so top quilt, shells. The shells aren't bad in price and all you have to do is stuff with down and finish the last bit of sewing. If you know someone who sews they could do that last bit for you, or you could contact lostbiker and see if he would be willing to stuff the TQ for you if you had the down sent to him.

Here's his thread with a link to his site. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=66880

they pack tiny and are super light weight
I have a Prodigy TQ and I love it. Right now I'm using it for full time sleeping with the windows open with temps in the 50's, and have had it in the 40s. Packs down to softball size. Weighs in at 1.15 pounds and can be uysed as a UQ. Best money I've ever spent on insulation.

+1 for the Summer Series quilts! i love mine.

I picked up a GoLite 1-Season quilt not long ago and I'm really happy with the purchase. They're currently out of stock and are most of the time. However, they do become available periodically, but sell out quickly. If you're interested, keep your eyes open. People usually post on HF when they're available.

I like that idea. I have a GoLite Jam Pack and love it so far.

There are a lot of nice looking TQ options out there. I am building a list of options for TQs if I take that next step. The Flight Jacket looks like a competitive option. I especially like the fact that there are color choices.

I got a great 50* burrow from hammock gear that I use in the warmer months. Had it made with Momentum fabric and it comes in around 10 ounces. Really love it if you are looking at something from the vendors and you can contact them to find out about color choices.
