Hi from Far North Queensland, Australia

    Hi,

I'm a hammock camper from Queensland Australia.

I enjoy camping out in the tropical rainforest most of all.

Good quality gear is hard to come across in my neck of the woods so everything gets brought online and imported. I have used hennesy hammocks before but found them not versatile enough for my liking. My recent set-up was a bliss hammock a sil-nylon tarp with a mosquito net draped over a line.

My silnylon tarp has since been eaten by a melomy so will be upgrading to cuben fibre tarp. I am selling my bliss hammock on ebay and looking at the nano 7 at the moment. Finally i am looking at options for a bug net something that can be used to cover my hammock as a sock and when the temperature drops and i go to ground can be used as a bug net with ground sheet or maybe i'll just go for the lightest option of a hammock sock bug net.

    Anyway take it easy.

Welcome from the other side of the world, otherwise known as New Jersey. Check out Sgt Rock's posts. He made a bug 'hut' that might be what you're looking for.

I guess I'm not sure what a melomy is, but if it can eat a silnylon tarp, I'm not sure I want to meet one!

Cheers for all the welcomes guys... Its good and dry in my neck of the woods Ex-tropical cyclone Oswold went right around me.. 37 degrees C today so plenty of swimming in the river and rope swinging ... Will check out Sgt Rocks post thanks for the heads up... A melomy is a cute little mouse like creature that hops a bit like a kangaroo to get around i was living up in the wet tropics over the last 3 month and they used to frequent my shack sometimes when a decent down poor occurred and the temperature dropped i would wake to one curled up next to me asleep for warmth. Should have locked my gear in a sealed container...well no for next time...Thanks again
