That a nice looking rig but i prefer something with a full length sock for both me and my hammock in my experience with the tropics and mosquitos you generally sleep in minimal if any clothing at all and no sleeping bag etc so the mozzies, sand flys, midges and particularly march flys will bite straight through the light hammock material and into you. I dunno what people do in the Darien Gap in regards to this? In the time i spent in the Panamanian rainforest the biting insects were just as bad I imagine thats why most of the Kuna Yala population lives more so on the island and the coast line not so much inland. I have slept in rainforests, mangrove swamps and fresh water swamp areas here and its enough to drive you mad.

Thanks again and keep the info coming its all great stuff!

Maybe contact papasmurf at dream hammock, he does bug socks as well, I think the tulle one weighs only 2oz, and he does custom jobs as well, im sure he could probably match the wwm weight?

AquaExp, I mean this in only the friendliest way possible.
Reminds me of Mom cutting my hair when I was little. "Boy, ya gotta hold still or I'm gonna cut your ear off"

Haha and that beautiful quote beside I'd say a dream-hammock or bias... Bias is a solid investment no matter how low the cost is... And I think papa does some of the best work on here. Either one are solid well made handcrafted Americana!

Don't use tulle for the bugnet the stuff genuinely doesn't hold up very well over time.

The only person i ever saw get there ear cut during a haircut was my father just prior to saying to my mother "stop asking question and just cut my bloody hair"

I guess we both have mummy and daddy issues...

Love your gear Papa Smurf beautifully designed and manufactured stuff just not "exactly" what I am after. While I have your attention how much would it sting me for a full length bug net? Made of something light yet durable possibly like what you use in the Darrien UL. Feel free to pm me.

Take it easy and happy hanging!

I love my Bias WWM. Very light and feels nice. I added my own DIY attached bug net with nano noseeum. With Amsteel whoopies and straps with Bias carbon toggles the whole package is 16.3oz.
