    Group Tarp/Hammock Tarp

I have a HH that I am very happy with. I have been out in major downpours and stayrd bone dry. I have the standard tarp that comes with it. I am concerned that if I ever had big rain and big wind it wouldn't do the job. One of the guys I usually hike with brings a tarp to serve as a dining fly. If I got a bigger tarp (I am currently looking at the JRB 11 x 10, could that serve double duty as the group tarp? I see hanging the tarp then after dinner is done hang the hammock and lower the sides. Thoughts, insights and experince shared greatly appreciated.

That's a fine sized tarp to have maybe 4 people sitting around under it with their stoves out.

Only problem will be chasing them out into the rain so that you can get on with the business of hammocking

Hmmm, do you want to be the one sleeping where all the food smells from dinner are? Then again, you hang a tarp like that in the rain and it will be where everyone goes anyway. Especially if you have a nice hammock set up to sit in.

What kind of hammock do you have? I would think it would fit a HH

neo is a recovering HH hanger; unless things have changed recently, he's a Claytor man these days.

If your camping with that guy that always brings that Dining Fly. I would stick with a smaller tarp. If your solo and your expecting tough weather bring the bigger Tarp.
