Glad to hear that even with all the sticks in the spokes ya'll are preserving. It is unfathomable that the state can't get it's act together. It's not only the state parks but also the state forest. Waiting for Grinders tales of your experiences at the next H&H.

I know... I'm working on it. The latest set of proposed rule changes allows affixing things to a tree with written permission from the forest but by definition that means that it is still against the rules unless the local manager chooses (not really different from now). I'm arguing that we need to allow hammocks everywhere that we allow tents except for campgrounds (where it should be by permit only). I wish it didn't have to be this difficult

And don't think your efforts aren't appreciated. I may have issues with the current implementation of the rules, but if and when they finally get around to seeing hammocks the same as tents it'll have been due to efforts like yours. Thank you for continuing the education of those in charge.

    All Good Things...

    Made it to Cedar Key.

Mrs. FLRider came out and met us. I drove Grinder back to his car at my place and ran back out here. Went to dinner with Mrs. FLRider. A great ending to a great trip.

Many thanks to Grinder for being a wonderful companion. And more thanks to Mrs. FLRider for shutting me to either end.

crossflorida2.jpgGot home last night just after dark. House still standing.
    High points:
Weather , for the most part, was benign.
The other part: Friday night and Saturday morning, we had two of the hardest rains I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Cow pisssin' on a flat rock and other euphemisms don't do it justice). I was dry in my hammock during the night downpour. I was sitting under a roof for the daylight version. That one pulled a stake ( which must have gotten whipped lashed into another dimension. I couldn't find it) on the tarp and things got damp. That afternoon, the weather moved through and it was Florida Chamber of Commerce weather from then to the end.

The biking got easier as the week progressed. 40 miles scared me early in the trip. 50 miles was routine by the last day. We managed one meal in town each day, and a meal it was. True gut-busters!!

Thanks to flrider for all the planning and for holding speeds down to those I could maintain.
