    Odd UQ question

I've decided to add another UQ, but have a problem figuring out what I need.

    Here's my dilemma:

I have a 20* UQ that serves me well. Most of the time I'm camping/backpacking in the range where a 20 is needed.
My problem is that where I am, the summer temps can go down quite frequently in the 50's and it's often windy here in the upper midwest.
My other problem is that I am usually the go-to guy for gear when I have friends that want to come along or when I outfit friends that fly in from other parts of the country to do some backpacking/paddling trips and I totally outfit them.

Now.....do I get another 20* UQ and vent it for the warmer nights or do I get a 40* and limit when I can use it. I don't want to get into pad/UQ combos.

What I'm really trying to ask is this. How well could I vent a 20* UQ to not be too hot in the 50's? Is it possible?
If so, then I just get another 20* UQ and be done with it.

The 40* works fine at that temp, unless you're a cold sleeper. I sold my 40* and went with a 20* with extra down. Nights in the Rockies get cold, especially up high. Venting is a good option, plus, you can hang it aside and bundle up later at night if you wake up cold.
Northern WI, I'd go with the 20.

i'd get a 20. that extends its overall use.

    i've vented a 0F incubator at 54F , and was fine.

Yip, UQs are easy enough to vent. Just pull it up or down, etc. to create a gap to let in some cool are and presto - instant cool-down.

    I'd go with the 20*.

    Thank you guys.

I figured I could allow a gap at the head and foot end, since I know what kind of difference that makes in cold weather. It's instantly vented.

Anything over the 50's, I would probably just use a Z-rest with it, but most of my use is fall through spring here.

Far more safety and benefit to another 20* UQ

Use a 3/4 if you want to save weight but potect the core against the unforseen.

    too warm, I like

Waking up too warm is a good problem to have, unless it is mid-summer at 30* latitude and you are in a hammock with no insulation.

I second the suggestion to get a shorter, but warm, second UQ because it will be easy to adjust it for both more, or less warmth.
