    Hennessy Hooks

    A coupla Qs:

1] I find the "mitten hooks" hard to open and close but I like their functionality. Does someone make a nicer mitten hook? I'm thinking maybe the little plastic Niteize S-biners would be a nice replacement for the mitten hooks on the ridgeline. I'm pretty sure they are small enough to not do any damage when it's all wrapped up in the snakeskins. Thoughts?

2] I'm tying my tarp to the tree and thinking of removing the tarp clips on the prussic knots. I know most of you don't use them either. Did you leave them on or remove them?

If you pull the twine which you have hooked with the mitten hook around accross the opening of the hook, (sort of sideways) it will ease right out. Trying to open the hook and get it free is hard.

Depending on how secure the hooks need to be, you might cut/file the prong off the hook to allow a bigger thing through before you have to press the prong. Like so....

Yep, I chopped the prong so that it just barely touches the tip ofthe hook on my underquilt and my hennessy tarp. They're so much easier to use now. It still keeps the hook from falling off but is easy to remove with one hand.

Stupid question here: what are the mitten hooks on the ridge line for? Just got three Used HH for me and my sons and just trying to figure it out.

http://hennessyhammock.com/media/C35/ Watch the fair weather set up demo. I think the one you are talking about is the one to hook the tarp to the ridge line (assuming you choose to do it that way instead of on another ridgeline).

Toi Keep the Fly close to the Hammock

I attach them to the D-rings. When I get in the hammock, it pulls the fly down with it. The HH fly allows very little room for error when it comes to coverage. So, along with Self tensioning guy-lines, my HH fly stays close to me, stays tight, and provides great coverage.
