    Need some input

I have an ENO singlenest and I'm trying to convert an old slumberjack 20 degree bag into a sock/quilt. Problem is I need to cut off the hood and then use the fabric from the hood so that air can't come in and then use the fabric from the hood to make a sleeve for a draw cord so that i can cinch the top of the bag down around me. The foot of the bag has a footbox which I cut the mesh liner out of so it slides right down over the hammock and then I just tie it closed with some parachute cord. Problem is I'm in college and live in Wise VA. Any idea where I could pay someone to cut the hood off and do the small bit of sewing?

I have the exact same bag and did what you're talking about. However, I didn't cut the hood off. I just left it on and once I climb into the hammock and pull the bag to me...I just cinch the line and use that clip that comes on it to secure it.

ETA - all I did was cut the mesh out of the footbox, zipped it up just enough to let my hammock lines run through it, then used epoxy to secure them in place so as not to allow them to become unzipped. Seems to be working nicely.

sounds like the best, simplest way to do to me. I have not cut the hood off my mummy bag. I don't think I need to.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
