Would this drip ring setup work?

Throwing this out there for review / comment - I picked up two 1.5" stainless steel rings today and put them onto my Hennessy Explorer / whoopie slings thinking they might work as drip rings. The whoopie sling is just wrapped once around the ring, so I can slide them along the whoopie, depending on what tarp I use, etc.

    Whatcha think

Can't see why it wouldn't work.

It would work, but why? Are the 'tails' of the whoopie not working for you?

Does anyone have a problem with drips running down their tarp ridgeline? This might be a good solution for those with continuous RL on their tarp?

Why not just try it out? Poor some water down your woopies and see what happens...

Yes, this works. I haven't had this hammock in a bad rainstorm yet though, so I was thinking about adding those rings as a precaution. Over engineering I guess.

That arrangement definitely looks fully operable for intended function. But why not go cheaper and lighter and just use a bit of shoelace?

Here's what happened when I did a drip test in my basement. Looks like it's really the 'bend' in the rope that's causing the drip.

Try applying the water above where the tail comes out of the woopie sling.
