Maybe Turk will chime in later in the Spring, after he thaws out?

love the video shug. am currently a "ground dweller", but am seriously looking into a hammock. you remind me of a freind that i camp with. he is a former navy seal, and we love to get out into unusual areas.

What a great compliment ... I admire Navy Seals so much.
Just try a hammock and give it a few tries before you go back to ground. The comfort sealed (pun intended!) the deal for me! And I love sitting in it, cooking breakfast out of it and putting my boots on while sitting up off of the ground.
Good luck on it and remember .. we are here to help you stay hanging.

I carried just wee bit of HEET for my Mini-Atomic .... just wanted to see if it worked in THAT cold. I slept with the HEET and stove in my chest pocket. Also camera, lip balm, watch, lighter and water against my body.

    Shug,

Realizing you had the Heet and the Mini-Atomic “pre-warmed”, I’m guessing your water was “sleeping bag warm”? In your opinion how did the alcohol stove perform?

Hey it boiled my 1 3/4 cup of water in -27º cold so that I could have breakfast from the hammock!!!!! Took a bit more fuel.... 1 1/4 oz if I recall... but a give it 5 stars, 2 thumbs up and a hardy ho!!!!!!
I was quite proud of it.

im definitely jealous of white gas for cooking in the mornings. However there is something to be said about firing up the wood stove and staying in bed while the hammock tent rises 100 deg F above ambient temps so you can get up in comfort.
