Welcome from Michigan in the USA. Glad to see all the interest from across the pond.
Welcome, I'm on the east coast of scotland, just outside Edinburgh.
The biner should be more than enough of a break for drips, just make sure it is under your tarp and you should be good.
Greetings from Edinburgh, I am from Fort William originally so also a West coaster, or teuchter if you like. I like to think that my first proper trip with my hammock last year being the Great Glen Way in 3 days I have confirmed I am still a highlander and have not turned into Gary Tank Commander with the soft living over here.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys, nice to have some homely feedback aswell. definetly be attaching some drip cords instead of forking out more cash. Was camping in the height of summer(supposedly) this year went to bed with a light drizzle starting. it must of been all night long for i was woken in the morning with a wet head, it has ran down the webbing and started to soak down into the hammock. if i decided to sleep in it would have been worse possibly, when i think about it though the rain was coming in near enough horizontal from the north-east. with my head and feet north and south, suppose it was bad orientation on my part.
Its a learning process, after you have done it once you know not to do it again.
I did it but not with rain, I managed to pitch my tarp so it funneled the wind through it all night, for a start I couldn't understand why I was so cold.
We will be hammocking and walking up in Scotland this summer and I cannot wait!
it is that, everyday's a school day. Especially in this category.
i hope you've invested in some skin so soft from your local avon lady, or a full body mossie net. If your anything like me that is, i seem to be prime midgie food, it's funny though because others i go camping with come home without a scratch. But i'm attacked without my trusty bottle of sss haha
Midges do tend to eat people alive. Im normally there to attract them to me.
Welcome, & good advice about the skin so soft. When I did the 1st monster challenge around Loch Ness, it was the only thing that kept the midges from biting. Even Royal Marines swear by the stuff, or so I've heard, us Angle irons had to make do with being eaten.
