Most times, I just leave 'em under the hammock. If it looks like rain, I'll clap 'em together to remove dirt, tie the laces together over the SRL, and shove 'em to the foot end of the hammock so's to be out of the way. Shake 'em out in the morning to remove any crawlies.

Heh. A little permethrin on the whipping knobs takes care of that, right quick. It won't kill most arachnids right off (their breathing apparatus is different from most insects', from what I've been told), but it sure smells bad to 'em. Besides, if it's warm enough for spiders, it's warm enough for skeeters...bring the bug net!

Untill now I just hopped for the best. I like the bag ideas but I get up several times in the night so I need my shoes. I'll have to think of something different.

I just take the chance and leave them under my hammock. Hopefully I never have to learn my lesson! I can't find it but I remember another thread here where someone said foxes like to take them to chew on. I think they said someone once found a fox hole with a ton of hiking boots in it at Isle Royale IIRC.

I have to try this as well.

I usually do the gaiters over the top thing under my hammock and have never had a problem, but up on a stick seems like it might be the better way to go.

I hate when the most obvious solution slips past me. Thanks for the logical and brilliant idea.

I usually just hang mine from the end of the hammock but I've found slugs, and other things making camp in there...NOT ANYMORE thanks to snap.

In my old HH with the birth canal, I had a biner attached to the bottom of the opening and I would tie the laces together and they would free hang right where I needed them and always off the ground.
