    okay I'm going to attempt to do some do it yourself projects using ripstop nylon what thread should I use

    In the interest of full disclosure... Guttermans is an excellent brand but not the only one. As long as you are buying from a sewing center rather than a big box store you should be good.

    If you haven't already bought the faric you can get it all from diygearsupply. Scott has a pretty good assortment of fabrics and thread for a great deal of projects!

    Exactly...100% polyester of a good quality will do the job.

    My only reason for recommending specific Gutermann threads, is that they are a known quantity to me, and I don't have to explain not to buy cheap thread or thread that is too heavy for most home sewing machines.
