I don't get it, I think paracord is an excellent guyline..? I only use it for the tarp though, but the stretch totally works to my benefit, wet or dry. Crank em down pretty tight and there's still a little give, no need for bungee/shockcords.
    YMMV/HYOH I guess..?

I'm one of those who has actually seen the tentpeg shoot off in a storm when tied out with bungees, never ever doing that again... The peg flew maybe 50 feet right in to the Ljusnan river, I was just soo happy that no one got hit!

I've been interested in the Hornet too lately, maybe some other time since i modded my TW SuperXL with netting and tieouts etc. Great products TW though, I don't think you will be dissappointed!

The best option is zing it / lash it. And it works even better combined with Duch superflyz.

Other than that I suspect that your setup is a bit on the cold side for hammocking above the polar circle during winter. You will at least have to play around with combining the DD underblanket with the pads, and prepeare the pads with pad extenders for extra shoulder width.

Nice vids from the Folkeparken area, testing stove setup is my idea of fun also.
My next project is a fancy feast stove. Only problem is that I can't find a suitable hole puncher

    Thanks for those tips.

As hanging in winter with that set up, I am a little uncertain myself. But I am getting a good sleeping bag in the Isbjørn Jan mayen, and I also have a Jerven Thermo Hunter "fjellduk" that I can wrap around the whole set upp to cocoon myself in. And probably I won't be out on the coldest of days anyway. 90% of the time I'll be in Medkila, less than 500 meters from home :-)
Where can I see those vids?

    I have a YT channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Bumbling...?feature=guide

I'm not concerned about the sleeping bag beeing to cold, it's your underside that may have low temp. coverage.
Fjellduken would help, I'm only wondering if it will fit as cocoon? Maybee it's better suited as extra under quilt? Layered with the DD blanket.

You might get better comfort in the hammock if you ditch the pad and just go combined DD + Jerven.

And I was referring to your own videos I haven't mady any vids. I have some pictures somewhere here on HF.

If I die, my biggest fear is that my wife will sell my gear for what I told her I paid for it.

I am learning from my mistakes, so I can make better and bigger mistakes.

Congrats on your new gear and Welcome to the forums!
That would be my recommendation as well. I've also found that 25' of Zing it is too short. By the time I wrap my tarp line around one tree, extend it to the next, and wrap it around that tree I've often come up short. Zing-it is much lighter than paracord and doesn't stretch. Also, I really like my TarpFlyz from Dutchware. I use one tied to the end of my Zing it just to hook my main loop and the other floats along the line to tension my tarp line. They're the only piece of titanium I own.

Light weight carabiners will certainly hold the weight (as long as they're rated for climbing and not the keychain type of biners). But look into Dutch's Dutch Clips.

I'll probably end up trying all of your recomendations, and thanks a bunch for them.
But not on the first trip

It's great to learn from others, but I have to find my own way around things as well :-)

Also I'll make a dry run, i.e go out in the morning find a suitable place in the back woods near my home, and do a test hang, and have a little afternoon snooze to see how things are working.

Then I'll see what would be nice to have from your recomendations with my own eyes before I go on a full blown outing...

Harstad, that should also let me find out what works best. I got some 10 meters of bungee cord that could be used to press the Jerven bag into service as an extra layer of UQ if need be.

    But look at this vid:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUPnxiXxAd8

Thats what inspired me to use the Jerven bag. Well, my little daytime test will soon find out whats is feasible.

Oh, and my stuff is on it's way. All the kit from DD Hammocks (Tarp, suspension, UQ) just passed customs inspection in Oslo. So now it will move at snail speed as the Norwegian postal service load it onto their donkey carts....

The hammock I believe is somewhere in Denmark at the moment. And my sleeping bag has not left the factory yet, but will on Monday, to be delivered on wednesday they promised, They just need to make it first!

So with some luck, I'll be swinging in about a week. Well, when the SWMBO finds out I will be swinging from my neck anyway....

Like everyone else, I recommend something other than paracord. Now that I know what a Jervan Bag is, you should see about -15* C to -9* C differential inside the Jervan compared to the outside temperature. I use a hammock sock, basically the same concept as the Jervan Bag, your going to see a bit of frost on the inside, even when vented. If you haven't already, check out Shug's winter camping videos. They might give you a couple more ideas.

Your set-up sounds fine. I have the same UQ, but I'm not sure it will make it in Arctic Norway in February.. I only tried it in single-digit plus degrees in Vemdalen, Sweden, so I'm sure it would manage a couple of degrees below, but more than that? I got a down uq from HammockGear that I've only done a dry-run on so far, but my ooh my is it ever light and less bulky! That size tarp is nice too, I like the extra space it provides, but the same issue: it's pretty heavy.

Your marinas don't have suitable hammock rope? Surely then you'd have some online store in Norway to order from? Us sailors require both stretching and non-stretching rope, so marinas often carry all kinds of good options - dyneema stuff for example.

Don't forget your tent pegs...! DAMHIK...

    Tent pegs?
The ground is frozen solid, probably a meter deep. I will have to tie of to trees and my skis....and use a few other snow tricks :-)

I do not plan ti hike very far with this, and will probably use a pulk, so weight and bulk is really no issue.

Hehe, you can tell I'm no deep winter camper, huh :-) Well, there's always the summer coming. Eventually..
