How cold before pad (with 3/4 UQ)

I'm a big fan of my full length, but I got a 3/4 for summer hiking and I was curious about the pad under your feet. How cold does it need to get before you use a pad under you feet? I was just going to stick a piece of reflectix in my footbox.

For me it's below 30F, using a 20F bag with closed footbox.

That night I used the 3/4 and the reflectix you gave me worked great at what ever the temp was??? Do you remember the temp?

I had a good test of my 20 deg 3/4 length LeighLo UQ and 20 deg topquilt at the mid-winter Tennessee Hang last weekend. 1st night low was 21 deg, second night was 14 deg.

Had an inflatable thermarest pillow available in the foot box of my 20 deg RevX top quilt. Using it I was comfortable while sleeping barefoot at 21 deg. However at 14 deg I had to add wool socks to be comfortable.

At the hang, I also used a square of reflectix in the (double) bottom of my hammock to provide an extra insulating layer for my back. I used it both nights and was glad I had it with me. It was really cold outside of the hammock!

Anyway, for the feet I guess its really a bit different for everyone depending upon the way their feet react to cold, use of socks or booties, hot water bottles, top quilt rating, etc. You might, (when using your 3/4 UQ) carry some reflectix to put in the foot box if the temp drops to where you need something extra, or until you are convinced you won't ever use it.
