I have zero experience with a hammock that has a ridgeline and I thought it might help adjust the amount of sag. Doesn't appear to be the case, so I guess it ended up being a psychological thing. It sure seemed that it made a difference, though. Maybe not. After the adjustment, the material didn't seem to bunch up as much in the middle lenghthwise.

    I'm still learning...

oh, i'm not saying you couldn't feel a difference, just that an inch isn't noticeable for me and i wonder if it was that or something else. mustardman claims pulling the suspension a little tighter reduces the knee ridge in his bb, which i can't think of a reason for, but maybe it does, "is that what you mean by "bunch up in the middle lengthwise"? scooting up towards the head end a little reduces that some too from my experience.

Maybe the best term is indeed "knee ridge". It's basically a bunching up and tightening of material running along the middle of the hammock forming a narrow ridge from my butt up to the foot-end of the hammock. If I lay asym, it falls underneath my knees. If I lay straight, it falls underneath the entire length of my legs.

If I lay straight, this narrow ridge of material causes my legs to fall on either side of this ridge. I can't put my feet together and stretch them out in front of me.

However, Mustardman may be on to something. If I hang the hammock in such a manner as to produce an open E note on a guitar if I were to pluck the ridgeline when I'm laying in it...this "knee ridge" seems to all but disappear.

also, knee ridge or not, if you're a back sleeper, try putting a sleeping bag sized stuffsac under your knees to elevate them, it's super comfy and you wouldn't feel any knee ridge.

the knee ridge is just a part of end-gathered hammocks, unless pulling it tight really does make it dissapear, scooting up toward the head end does seem to make it much less noticeable. it doesn't seem to bother most folks very much though.

when you get a note from the rl, are you getting some "drop" as you enter?

Lookin good! That's going to be similar to my set up with a claytor diamond tarp.
How close does the footbox come to the tarp?

The way I have it rigged here? Not close at all. The lack of perspective in the picture doesn't really help...but the footbox is a good 6-8 inches away from the tarp when I'm laying asym and my feet are in it.
