    Where to buy hammock fabric?

    Hey guys,

I am wanting to make my first DIY hammock. I looked at Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby but I didn't find anything? Where do you all get most of your fabric from? I am wanting to make a double layer.

Also any tips might help, if you have any.

    Thanks
    Brock

+1 on DIYGearsupply. I have always gotten my fabrics from Scott. Some folks are making hammocks from Crinkle taffeta tablecloths. They go to tableclothsfactory.com. I understand they are heavier than you might want if you are a backpacker. Scott sells pre-made blanks of the same stuff at DIYgearsupply too.

Hancock Fabrics in Rome and JoAnn Fabrics in Dalton are also good places to find ripstop nylon and mosquito netting, organza and tulle if you're a Need-it/Want-it-now kind of person. We have found that most of the ripstop nylon they carry is 1.9 oz/square yard. Good luck!

A local fabric shop is a good place to start, but some don't carry rip stop nylon and when they do it's pricey. If you are buying a quantity, "fabricsupplier" on eBay has good pricing and fast delivery. This is an option to the ones mentioned before.

+1 DiYGearsupply. I have even sent him emails and he had stuff not no his website that he sold me as seconds. I have never been able to tell the differance between firsts and seconds with his stuff.

I ordered some material from onlinefabricstore.net today. $5 a yard for 1.9oz ripstop is hard to beat.

Price looks good and free shipping for over $50. Anyone have experience with this site?
