Any tips to keep track of head end vs. foot

Let's say I'm setting up the hammock looking out over this sweet view, like a lake.

It seems like whenever I pull out the hammock (WBBB in this case) from its double-ended stuff sack and start putting the webbing (or whatever) around the trees, I then find I've hung it the wrong direction & I'm looking at the woods instead of the lake. Then I think to myself - why didn't you look at the bug netting when you set it up, dummy.

Any tips on how to make this more idiot proof so I hang the hammock in the direction of the view?

For whatever reason, I always hang the head end (or the end I intend to have my head at) first. With my one-ended stuff sack, it's easy because that end comes out first. But in your case, I'd mark the head end, perhaps using a bright colored drip line or something. Then just get in the habit of always grabbing that end first.

    two things

In order to keep the head and foot end marked on mine. I made two changes with stuff I found around the house.

    1) I changed the cord lock on one end of the the bishop bag. The smaller cord lock is on the head end because the foot box is bigger (at least that is how I remember which one is which). Theoretically, I could to this in the dark.

    2) When I added the whoopies I made, I added a bead to the constrictor loop on each end. The blue bead is my head end while the black is the foot end. I remember this because I have a blue fleece hat.

Hope you find and easy solution.

I painted my dutch clip on the head end green. I remember it as red is head(I was unable to locate the red paint marker but found the green) I also use a different color cord lock. On my home made black Bishop sacs I don't have a problem because I put my head end whoopie out of the button hole. I've also thought of replacing the cord on the double stuff sack with red at the head end. Just now I thought of adding a glow in the Dark bead or cord lock (do they make them) to the head to address setting up in the dark.!

I have used different colored whoopies before... Now in my bishop bag the foot end is the "bottom" of the bag, head end is the cinched up side...

You could color code the ends. Maybe shrink tubing on the suspension of one end or the other. A small zip tie or tape or nail polish or.... on one end or the other.

There are all sorts of ways to do it. Personally I like to be able to identify the head end while the hammock is in the bag. In the past I tied an extra knot on the end of the draw string of the head end. It worked well but is small and required a close look. Nowadays when I pack up my BB I leave a few inches of webbing sticking out of the bag on the head end before cinching it closed. It stays put and I never had more webbing inadvertently come out.

I use the stock webbing suspension on my wbbb. On the head end I have lightweight carabiner with red color. To identify the head end all I need to remember is " Red is head"

Yep. Like others, I marked mine. I used a silver sharpie and colored the cord lock at the foot end side of the bag.

Changed out the draw cord on the head end of the double sided stuff sack for a different color - still can't remember which color is for the head though.
