    Dana Designs Hattarp

Cat tarp...kinda heavy, but it has zippers all around. The seller says you can zip it together like a bivy sack...I'd be worried about condensation, but it made the think that zippers might be a good way to add the end caps.

interesting thought... being able to remove the beaks instead of having them rolled up & showing when they aren't being used.
but you're right, the zipper would ad some weight & opportunity for failure.
i have thought about beaks on the end that you could attach & remove by either tying or using mini biners.
it would need to attach underneath the ridge line a few inches from the end, & to the corners of the tarp... then to the tree or hammock support.

i sure do wish we could come up w/ another name for those extensions... something about that name ... beak, that i just don't like
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I'm with you on that one, slowhike!
I haven't made mine yet, but I am already calling them "gables", even if it's not technically correct. Somehow, that sounds friendlier to me!

I think Ray Garlington originally called them Tarp Hoods. I'm not sure that really says it either.
