bgraybackpacker, my understanding it that CreativeKayt has one, I was going to try it for the WA hang, but messed up my back so I could not go. If I don't have one by this hang, I will try to barrow hers.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Well, I was going to go to this hang, and was planning on bringing the wife also, but life has gotten in the way once again. By the time this hang takes place, I will be moving out of state. I am loading the truck on the 2nd and 3rd of August, if anyone feels like helping a guy move.

This move is based on the wife's health, so while I understand it is necessary, I still don't have to like moving as an activity.

ETA: I will only need a hand for a couple of hours. Where's all the love? Just like in college, I will provide beer and pizza.

There's still snow in places I'm thinking about...can't get to them yet! I'll check again, since it's been three weeks since my last phone call to the Clackamas Ranger Station.

I like Wahtum Lake, it is beautiful! It lets people hike in via HWY 84 or drive in on the back roads. Chinideer Mountain is a great day trip for those who want extra miles. I like it, thumbs up!!!! And the gorge, I really have not gotten tired of it, at all.

Anyone want to form a hiking party from Eagle Creek to 7.5 mile camp then on to Wahtum? We could go back on Eagle Creek or wrap up the Ruckle Creek loop.

    WHATUM LAKE IT IS

Yeah, I think the original plan of Whatum Lake is what we'll stick to. It affords people a very nice, long hike in from the Eagle Creek area and also allows people to drive there if that's more their style. The hike in from Eagle Creek is really a very nice one once you get past Tunnel Falls and all the touristas drop off to almost nothing. There are plenty of camp sites around the lake to hang at and lots of trees in between we could hang at if the sites do fill up. Just bring large tree straps, as the trees are a bit on the large side up there.

    THIRD ANNUAL OREGON SUMMER HANG!!

    Where?
    Portland area this year..Whatum Lake.

    When?
    August 9, 10 11, 2013.

    Who?
Everyone is invited. The more the merrier, I say Bring the kids! Bring the Grandparents! Bring the dogs! Bring the dog's grandparents...whatever!

Will there be a raffle like last year?
Yes, I am already hard at work on it. Same as last year, I am not announcing what the prizes are until the hang starts, only the companies donating. I can say that, as of right now, we have 3 companies committed to donating prizes.... and they are GOOD ONES I will add the names of the companies/individuals in a later post.

Will the prices of the raffle tickets be the same as last year, and can I buy as many as I like this year?
Yes and no. Yes, the ticket prices will be the same as last year ($20.00 per person), and no, you cannot buy more than one ticket per person. Also, you must be present to win. Tickets will go on sale at the as yet to be specified camping location on August 9 at 6 pm. Raffle to be held on August 10 at 5pm. Last year we raised over $300.00 for Wounded Warriors, so this year we should DOUBLE that amount.

Hey, Bigfoot....what's the charity this year?
    USO-United Servicemen's Organization.

Hey, Bigfoot...can I bring my booze with me?
Sure, if you drink responsibly and do not make a fool of yourself. All state and federal liquor rules apply. Drive responsibly and remember...this is a FAMILY EVENT.

How about some event volunteers? Whoopie sling making classes? How to make pop can alcohol stoves? Zombie fighting 101? Any ideas?

Im there! can't wait. Sounds like a great plan. Good options for those looking for a hike or just a stroll... the steps from the parking lot down to the lake are fun too...
    On the calendar!
Thanks Big Foot for setting it up
