    Troop 214, Reporting In!

    Hello everyone,
My name is Will, I am 13, I am in Boy Scouts, and I like backpacking. Most of it, except for the sleeping part. I doubt you guys have this problem anymore, but tents suck. I would like to convert to the glorious hammock master race, if you'll accept such a youngster as myself. I'll be making a thread in the General Hammocking sub-forum in a minute, so I hope you'll check it out!

    Will

Welcome from Troop 4036 in New Albany, IN.

As a scouter I am the only one to full time hammock in our troop. Worked great on our trip to northern tier last summer!

    Hey Buddy! Welcome.

I hike a lot in the Grouse Ridge area of the Sierra mountains. Several years ago a Scout put up some very nice trail signs throughout that entire area as his Eagle Scout project. I'm very appreciative of those signs and the work that went into it. It's an Eagle Scout project which keeps giving year after year.

    Will,

Welcome from SM of Troop 909 of Tulsa. I have tried to get some of my scouts interested in hammocking, but so far, no takers.

It looks like you are just south of the Ozark National Forest, which is where I imagine you will do most of your backpacking. That is a pretty area. I wish we were not 3 to 4 hours away, or we would camp there more often.

    Hike on.
