    DIY Summer UQ

I am thinking I am going to build a summer UQ using a cheap (~$20) fleece sleeping bag, as an underquilt. I would whip the four corners, and hang under my hammock. I may even slip the Hennessy Radiant Double Bubble in between.

Any thoughts on effectiveness and maybe temperature range? Also, would this stop the moisture buildup previously experienced while sleeping on the pad inside the hammock?

Sounds like a nice simplish project.
Not sure about temp range but remember fleece is not wind resistant in the slightest so you may want to consider an uqp as well?

I did some research about that. I found that the fact it's not wind resistant really hurts the its insullating capabilities.

What about a poncho liner? They're pretty cheap.

As others have mentioned, poncho liners run about the same weight and price and don't require an additional shell for wind blocking. I found that the no-sew version was good for me down into the thirties (I'd rate it into the forties for the theoretical "average sleeper") and that the sewn up version--with one layer of InsulBright added to it--was good down to twenty-five (I'd rate it to freezing for the average sleeper).

Dejoha has a pair of fine tutorials located here (for the no-sew version) and here (for the sewn up version).

    Hope it helps!

I love my no-sew PLUQ... it is good down to mid-40's, or add a layer of fleece between the PL and the hammock, and you could go another 5 degrees cooler...

The Poncho Liner is a great idea. I just ordered one from amazon. I will post how it turns out.

I just ordered my new batch of liners. My brother inlaw wants to go camping when he comes in a few weeks so I can't disappoint. Plus I wanted acu digi to match my bias wwm. If you need any help with your upcoming project feel free to pm me and I will give you some pointers to the best of my ability. I have a bit of experience turning these things into functional insulation.
