VIDEO: Lac La Biche Alberta one night stand!!

Went out for another one nighter to Sir William Churchill Provincial Park in northern Alberta. Lots of snow, half way up my thighs in some spots. Weather was very nice on Saturday, -1c (30.2f) but dropped to -17c (1.4f) through the night. Woke up nice and frosty. I'm thinking I need a winter quilt instead of my 3 season set!! It was a shock after being in Mexico less than a week before.

I like the hammock kayak, very clever! Looks like you had a good dumping of snow, lots of it (thigh height in places). I think the best thing about snow is the way it sits on the trees – very nice! Thanks for the video, HangingKayaker!

    Good video.

Great to get out in the winter with a buddy. What did you supplement your 3 season insulation with? On another note, I would suggest that you tell Bill that crossing his poles on his pulk will give him better control of it while pulling and turning.

    Cheers

I used a fleece liner for the first time, not sure i liked it, plus wore merino long johns, fleece pants, big wool socks, merino long sleeve under shirt, fleece pullover and a primaloft sweater. Toes got cold and I felt it a bit around my body but not too bad. Seriously looking at switching to 0 degree incubator and burrow.
It was Bill's first time with the poles. On the way out he tried crossing them. Again it was his first time with the poles so he really hasn't used them enough to get an opinion either way on their positioning.
