Are you running the cord the length of the quilt or just from the corners up to the suspension? If it is just from the corners 20' will be enough I think.

I use between 15' and 17'. There needs to be some tension on the cord to suspend it at the right height. I secure mine to the line just outside of the knot on my gathered end hammock. I used a cord lock so I could get the tension right on it and left a little extra line "just in case".

got an REI near you? In the bike repair shop, they stock it. You have to ask.

i read that i could get away with just using it on the corners.
thanks everyone 4 the response. ill head 2 rei later this week..
Just my 2 cents here, but...
You can get away with using it on just the corners, but when I tried that approach I could not slide the UQ up and down to fit as easily as having the cord in a channel. You may want to reconsider the relatively small increase in cost and weight for a lot less stress and a lot more comfort.

i know my local craft store caries rolls and rools of shock cord, about 20 diffrent colors
All those places are expensive. I just ordered 500' for $40 yesterday on amazon. You can also find 100' rolls for around $10... No need to spend more than necessary...
